As a child, what kind of games did you play?

I had a pony that I rode everyday. We played kick the can, kick ball, tag, and a lot of basketball and baseball. I grew up living on the lake so we fished and swam a lot. I hated being inside and still do.

Hmmm... let's see now, i remember most of the games ya'll have done and i need to add riding bikes pretending to be Evel Knievel, jumping ramps, hopping curbs, poppin wheelies crazy stuff like that, and paddle ball was a game we loved to see who could hit that little ball the longest, yoyo's and frisbee were fun too.

This is an interesting topic. Over here in Singapore, I used to play hide and seek. And we also have a game called 'catching' where people were being divided into two equal number groups; one group will be the polices and the other group will be thieves. The polices would just tried to give chase to the thieves. Usually this game was played in big grass field with some trees so we had a great time running around.

Nowadays, most children are stuck in front of the computer, PSP, Nintendo etc. It's no wonder we have more obesity problems these days.

I just remembered, in the winter when there was snow on the ground, we used to make paths in it and we would play "Fox and Geese". One person would be the fox and the rest would be geese. The fox would then try to cath the geese. The one rule was that no one could get off of the paths. If you were caught off a path, you were automatically eaten by the fox!

I was just re-reading some of these posts -- I think it's interesting.

Cherylad, Sardines sounds like it was really fun!

I was just remembering something that wasn't a game but it took up some of our time almost every day! My best friend Diane and I went crabbing a lot with chicken necks on a string, or canoe-d around pulling up the crabbers' crab pots just to see what was inside. We also checked certain places around the neighborhood for soft crabs and if we found one we'd take it up to her mom, who would clean it and put it in the freezer. Then when we had "enough" (about 4), she'd fry them up for us for lunch. That was a happy lunchtime when that happened!

I asked my childhood friend Mark what the boys played and he said they played a game they called Smear, which pretty much consisted of running around and knocking each other over in the dirt. They also built forts in the woods and looked for turtles.

We used to play the 'team' hide & seek too. It was called Relivio. All the kids in the neighborhood would play. It was great.
