Hello ALL I have 10 pepper plants and 11 Tomato's Plants in my greenhouse. They have produced various amounts of crop and my growing season is getting very short. My question is "Can I cut of the top of the plants to slow or stop Veg growth so More productivity will go into the fruit". Also can I do this to my Tomato's. My tomato's are now app. 6 ft tall and there is fruit. But My growth season is getting very short. moderator's note: added a more descriptive title to topic
Hi Panther. I nip out the growing points from both my peppers and tomatoes. I also cut back any shoots that don't produce flowers. I have four tomato plants and two peppers this year and all haveg given me a good amounts of fruit.
Yes you can do that...and also trim off a lot of the tomato leaves, esp on the bottom of the plant. They plant will focus on producing and ripening fruit that way.
