Holes in my Rose of sharon leaves

    Good evening everybody I have a couple of Rose of sharon they are small and have beautiful big red blooms , But they have holes in the leaves looks like lace , if that makes any sense. does anyone know what to do about this? Its so pretty I hate to lose the plant.

    I think Netty has the correct answer, you have Japanese Beetles. I use a spray of water with a little dish soap. Just mix them together and spray, no more beetles. The only problem with this is that after it rains you will need to spray again. Good luck.

    One way to tell if a rose is getting too much water is the two-knuckle rule. Stick your finger in the dirt down to two knuckles - if the dirt is moist or wet - you don't need to water, and vice versa if the dirt is dry then you need to water.

    If the leaves have holes - usually this is an indication of insects. I would use a fungicide once weekly to see if this helps.
