Great shots! I had a similar Hawk that would land on my railing last winter but I never did manage to get a photo of it.
As cool as it was to see it, I didn't like the fact that he was after "my birds" at the feeders.

I like the small birds best. They're so fluffy and cute, but the hawk is majestic. :D

    Yeah Netty,

Took me a while to get over that fact as well..
    luckily I never saw it
BF did. all I ever see is him trying to get the mice/chipmunks that ran across the porch

didn't see to much of him last winter but boy the year before..
He even landed on the railing of the porch which is only about 8 feet from the house
and a couple of time he landed on the edge of my flowerbed right here below the window
(don't know what happened to those pics either) :-?

Great shots of some very handsome birds Bluewolf. Please keep them coming as we don't have any of those species over here in Scotland.

Great photos...I think the photo is a Coopers Hawk, at least that is what my books have told me.

Check to see if they look alike to you...you can also go back and check out more pictures of them in my bird pictures.

I love the wrens...they are such a nice little bird. I had a couple here for the first time (that I noticed) this summer. I hope they stay around my pergola area.

I am having problems with the neighbors cats prowling my yard so the numbers of birds is really down. I hope they keep the cats at home like I asked them but I doubt if they will...I love to photograph the birds and nature but not a picture of a cat stalking the birds.

I checked my photos and I think I had put them in before we had the photo albums on the site here. So they would be in my old post from photobucket..sorry. Maybe I can find them.

    Sherry,

I had some other pics of him from last year
    (but they disappeared)
that were closer to the house and more detailed
and he was identified as a "sharpshinned"

I live in the City and Coopers don't hang out here

I was amazed to have this guy hanging out
    considering where my location is

I noticed a lot of birds changing their habits...they are being pushed out of places to live. I live right outside of the city and I have even had an eagle in my yard....now when we lived in the country we had them flying above all the time with the juveniles. I am going to check out my photo ....maybe I have the wrong identity. Thank you and I like your photos...keep them coming. Kildale is one that really knows her birds...and just about anything in nature.

Yes I to have noticed a change in the bird habits
didn't see as many of the "usuals" this spring/summer as I usually do it actually has been a very quiet/boring season for this bird watcher/feeder

I hope this winter proves to be more "productive" :-?
