Have the jays calling in. They are noisy but they let you know they are here.

I think they are a beautiful bird. I don't mind noisy birds, I have crows that hang around at times and nothing is noisier than the crows..I know the blue jay is in the crow family so I think they would be too. Am I right or wrong?

Kildale, thanks for showing the jays. I would love to be able to see them in person too... they are very intense looking birds. Lovely. Are they friendly?

Yes they are friendly and come to picnic tables etc. I had one that used to knock on the window for shelled peanuts. Here is a small sequence of the Jay and its peanuts, just click,The Jay and Peanuts. then clck start and then click next for the next picture.

Thanks Kildale --like the photos a lot. I'm glad to know they are friendly. I won't freak out if one ever flies toward me.

The Bluejays around here are not very nice! You get close to a nest and they come out of no where and dive at you. They are known to attack (at least here in Texas :D :D )

Most of the bigger birds like to bomb you if you are near the nest. Most otherwise just get out of the way.
You should look at the jay with the peanuts in lunch time.
