Toby is six months old now and today he is at the Vet Hospital for his little necessary operation. It's awful isn't it when you have to leave them. Here is a photo of him hiding under the blanket. Please don't take me to the vet's ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden )
Bless him, he is adorable but as you say its better to have him 'fixed', its so hard watching those sad little faces looking at you as though to say 'Mom dont leave me here, they're evil' I so hope he is back home and recovering from his op and has forgiven you already.
It looks as though he knows what's about to happen to him Pat doesn't it? He'll be fine though as the op only takes a few minutes. I love that photograph with his one ear sticking out from under the blanket. :-D

I'm pleased to say that we have Toby back with us. As Eileen said, it only took a short while and I was surprised to find out that he didn't need to be stitched up as the wound starts healing almost immediately. You would never know he has had anything done, he is quite lively and already wants to go out, but unfortunately we have to keep him in for a couple of days. Thanks for all your good wishes.
So pleased you have little Toby back Pat and none the worse for his little trip to the vet. We never stitched a cat up after a castration either as the wounds are so small they heal really well. The only reason for keeping him in for a couple of days is to safeguard against any infection. I'm sure he'll appreciate being indoors at the moment anyway as it's not the best weather for exploring outside with all this rain and the high winds is it?
Poor little Toby. Awww. But it will be better for him in the long run, and for you too. I really disliked it when my tomcats went walkabout for days on end and came home with scratches, bites and what-not after fighting. We've had both our cats done since I think that's the sensible thing to do.
Isn't it funny how animals can sense that you are taking them to the vet? I leave my pet carriers open with the doors off and a blanket inside so Birdie can go in. She lays in there all the time and when i was going to the vet the other week, I brought it upstairs and she napped in it before we left. Now, my other cat I had for almost 19 years...always hid from me when she had to go to the vet...and she picked a great place to hide..the ceiling area. I had to cancell quite a few vet appointments because she wouldn't come out... So happy the vet visit went well.
Toby really is growing fast now with no ill effects from his op. He is so lively we have to keep him amused to stop him climbing up the walls, which incidentally drives my hubby wild, so we bought him this large activity toy to play on and so far it has kept him off the walls.
