hey guys, im kinda new to the entier home decorating or interior design realm. so i thought i'd post some pictures of my new floors and white walls. im open to any color options. tia [/img]
I'd have a nice strong colour for the doors and floor which would 'lift' the starkness away from the white walls.
A wooden floor is always my kind of floor. Nowadays there are those floor panels that are made of wood chips or is it a laminate ...... anyway it is called laminated wooden floor panels :-? (I think!) and it look great.
The floor looks nice. I'm not great with color, but maybe something just a few shades darker for the walls.
Do the rooms that open onto this area have specific color themes? You might want to do a blending of those colors in maybe a rug, paintings or tapestry on the walls, hanging baskets filled with flowers, a table with a vase of flowers and assorted knick-knacks. I would add colors with accessories first, those can be changed if the color/colors just don't look right. It's easier to change a rug or wall hanging than to repaint the walls and/or doors when the color turns out wrong. Do you want a formal style with a hall table centered in the area or maybe less formal with a coat rack, bench and a table to hold purse, keys, school books, things that you need to remember to take with you in the morning, etc? All those things will add color.
This looks like a beautiful space. Try something darker/bolder. If you try to pull tones from the floor, it won't always match due to the shift in natural light, but if you go with something bold or darker, then it won't look like you tried to match. If you do go dark, it's a good idea to add more lighting. At first it will feel somewhat cave-like, but should feel better after adding more lighting and once the shock value has worn off.
