buterfly 1 ( photo / image / picture from cuane's Garden ) buterfly 2 ( photo / image / picture from cuane's Garden ) Hiya, I just bought these today at a butterfly show and I was really excited and forgot to ask what the names were! So If anyone out there could identify these it would be AMAZING! Thanks a bunch for reading!
Here's a great website that should help you ID your butterflies cuane. :-D http://www.virginia.edu/blandy/ClarkeCo ... de2006.pdf
Did you find out where the butterflies were capture? Different parts of the world, different types of butterflies. The first one looks similar to the Delias hyparete (Linnaeus) http://www.delias-butterflies.co.uk/grp ... parete.htm This site shows butterflies that from the U.K., they are close but not exactly like yours. Again, a cross-breed? or possibly the same Family but different Species that lives in another part of the world. The second one has the exact same white markings as the Papilio Jordani but the Jordani doesn't have the long tail. I am wondering if yours might be a cross-breed and that's why the seller didn't have it labeled. http://www.insectnet.com/dcforum/DCForumID26/274.html At least these sites will give you a starting point for finding the proper identification of yours.
Thanks for the information, it is greatly appreciated. These butterflies were not caught in the wild, they were bred in captivity so they could be from anywhere really. I might just go back and see if he is still there
Sorry it took so long, its winter and its been a cold one so havent really been too keen to go anywhere Anyway! so the first butterfly is a Idea Leucone commonly called the rice paper butterly or paper kite due to the way it flaps its wings slowly and looks like a piece of paper floating through the rainforest And the second one is a Papilio Polytes commonly called a common mormon, its a common swallowtail species that is widely distributed throughout Asia So toni was close with Pappilo Jordani Thank you everyone for all your help!
