You know you need some garden therapy when you go to the grocery store and spend more time in the floral section than you do buying groceries. This is what I brought home on my last visit. :stew1:

    Yes...that did the trick!
I am due for some new flowers in the house as last weeks ones have faded. I shall have to see what they have after work.

I really like Alstroemeria as a cut flower, but Droopy tells me that they are a headache in the garden because they spread quickly and have difficult roots to remove. It sort of scared me off them in them.....but I have always wanted to have some.

    Yours look delicious.

The variety I tried to grow did not do well. I was sort of spindly and did not flower well and then it did not winter over...so I never tried them again. But if they can be hardy in Norway they should be able to grow here. I will have to check into newer varieties.
They are one of my favorite cut flowers, there are so many varieties and they last almost two weeks if they are fresh and they are fairly inexpensive.

Those beautiful colors hit the spot! :p It is dark, cold and rainy here today, so the color really lifted my spirits! Thanks for sharing.

I usually stand drooling over flowers and plants in the shops at this time of year. Ian is sent off to do the boring food shopping while I drink in all the colours and scents.
You have a good eye for the most attrractive cut flowers - mind if I tag along with you next time you're shopping for some? ;)

When I started looking at the pics the title of a movie came to my mind. Pretty in Pink. Movie had nothing to do with flowers but the flowers themselves were pretty in pink. A cheerful and cheering post. Thank you.

I am glad you all enjoyed the pictures, it gives to a little boost when I see flowers and the bonus of practicing with my camera in different lighting.
I would prefer for them to be blooming in the garden but I will take whatever I can get.
Eileen I would love for you to come with me...it maybe expensive getting here though ;) .
Newfpaws...I like flowers in all color but pink is my favorite. Pretty in Pink would be a good name for this alstroemeria. :stew1:

They're lovely! :D I like alstroemeria well enough as a cut flower but I really hate it in my garden. :scheming:

The one we've got is a yellow variety, and it's not only hardy. It takes over. The roots are at least 20-30 cm down, nearly a foot, and the ones I managed to find were thicker than my husband's thumb. I'd have an acer of them in no time, and I'm not "that" fond of them. :D I'm certain there are some with better manners but I'm not going to try them ever again. I haven't managed to get rid of the yellow pest yet.

I had to look at them again, Gail--they are just so lovely.
"Pretty in Pink" does sound like a good name for them.
