We had a light snow all morning and the birds were all over the place. At one point I counted at least 12 cardinals. I finally got a photo of the red bellied woodpecker on the ledge! red bellied woodpecker ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) Lots of red against the snowfall. red bellied woodpecker peeking in ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) cardinals in the snow ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from gfreiherr's Garden )
Gail what superb photographs - especially the ones of your woodpecker. :-D They certainly all brighten up a snowy day don't they?
Excellent job! The photos of the woodpecker are so interesting to look at since I don't see those around here.
Beautiful photos and good job of catching all those Cardinals. I can't get our Cardinals to sit still long enough for me to get a picture, except from a great distance.
I am so glad you enjoy the photos. I got so many good ones today, will post more another day. I put that no waste bird seed on the ledge and its usually gone in an hour. I think the tufted titmice are always the first one there to get the peanuts. I don't want to know what I have spent in birdseed this year.
Gorgeous photos. And how lucky you are to have such brightly colored birds on your property. And snow! Beautiful!
WOW! are those spring colors or what! Really nice photos. I thought you were a bird whisper until you mentioned the especially good bird seed. You should have maintained the mystery
Really beautiful pictures...especially the woodpecker. What kind of a camera did you use? It takes wonderful photographs.
Thanks for all the nice comments. Drissel...I have a Nikon D5000 with a 24-120 Nikor lens. I am hoping to get another lens with more zoom and a macro lens, for now all our $$ is tied up in wedding plans :-D Jewell...here's the most important tip...patience
Wedding plans...I understand...same here. A May wedding on San Andres Island for my son. I'm looking forward to it, but it does put other purchases on hold.
WoW,San Andres Island...that should be beautiful. Weddings are exciting and expensive! My daughter is getting married in the Cator Woolford Gardens in Atlanta on Oct 2nd.
Absolutely delightful, Gail. It was so nice to see that woodpecker up close. The colour markings are remarkable. ...and what about the cardinals in the trees--they make your trees look like fruit trees almost. You must be quite happy with this set of pics. Well done, you.
