I was planning on moving to Minnesota and starting a garden once I get there. But I just heard that I might move to Pennsylvania instead. I lived in MN before for 2 years so I'm familiar with what I need to know if I start a garden there. I've never been to Pennsylvania though so any information anyone can give me that I need to consider in planning for my garden project in Pennsylvania is very welcome. Thanks in advance.

I don't have a clue about gardening in Pennyslvania Marik I'm afraid. I think the only advice I could give you is to look in the local garden centres and nurseries there to see what they have for sale. You could also see what your new neighbours are growing or go for plants native to your new area.

Like Eileen said, check out the local garden centers and neighbors.
Also, find out the hardiness zone you are moving to, then finding plant ideas online will be easier. When you move, you will need to find out what type of soil you will be gardening in...sandy, clay, alkaline, acidic...then purchase plants with that in mind.

I lived in Pa for a short time. The climate is very much like Minnasota. Which i have been to there also. Depending on where you will live in Pa. the soil is very dark and rich. It is a coal state. The weather on the western side of the state near the rivers is very hot and humid in the summer and 100F+ temps are not unheard of. Winters are usually wet and muggy snows. lows can go as low as -20F in a blink of the eye. Spring is very short lived because it becomes very hot very fast there. Fall is a natural wonder. Very beautiful and very brisk weather one day and cold, crisp with frost the next. Over all summers are a dream for gardners in Pa. Hot, humid, and lots of sun. Very lush and almost tropical feel. Very black rich dirt that grew everything whether i wanted it or not.

I will say tho, some of the most violent thunder storms i have ever seen in my life was there in Pa. Also,,get used to thunder-snow. Very wet snow and thundering the whole time. Awesome.
