Got a little rain last night, but the sun was out bright this morning. Turned on the outside water and mixed up the weed killer in the sprayer. Got the driveway sprayed and around all the trees. Set up the water barrels at the downspouts so when it rains again on Thurs. they will be full. They say a dryer than normal summer. Then I started thinning out the Autumn Joy hedge. They have ben in the ground about 15 years and were getting way to big for the space. So I dug them up, split them into 4th and then replanted one fourth. The rest of them I am moving to an area around a base of a tree. The space where they are at is 18 ft long and I got a third of it done today. Not an easy job as you are bending over the whole time.
Busy busy Capt. It is good to start getting jobs done in the garden again, no matter how hard, but I think after we have all had the winter off, it is going to take a while for our muscles to get used to the work again.
Oh boy...I wish I would have remembered that when I started the yard work last week! My poor aching muscles!
Oh boy, I do soooo agree. Could hardly move last night! A good ache though. That bending over will get you every time, Capt!
Now that most of our snow has melted I can see what needs done in the garden. What a mess it is compared to this time last year!! Once it stops raining I really must get out there to do some clearing up and weeding.
I haven't done anything in my garden, if you call it that. The good news is that the rain has stopped and all things are blooming. Looks great...and natural, so to speak. I do miss getting my hands in the dirt, I have to say, but don't miss the back aches.
I know what you mean about those muscles, Capt'n. You really have been busy. You don't have to do it all in one day, y'know.
Now, there's a thought--not having to do it all in one day. Somehow that doesn't sink in until you start aching. Probably a mark of a weekend warrior type like myself.
