Does anyone make their own envelopes from paper to store their seeds? The only one I make is out of a simple 6x6 square piece of paper. Fold it together corner to corner, measure 2 inches in and fold the ends over, one first then the next over that one, tuck one corner into the other then fold the top down so it fold part of the corners also. Open up the top fold and voila. Anyone have any other ideas for making a seed envelope? Anyone have any other ideas for folding paper for storing seeds? Added: If you have other ideas or store your seeds in something other than aper please post them. I plant to save a lot of seed this year and I want to make sure they survive the winter.
My husband and I are both diabetics, so we have a lot of empty bottles that the blood test strips come in. They seal up tight and we put them in the freezer. Lasts for years. But for bigger seed we use empty spice bottles.
You freeze them??? Never heard of that. I thought it would harm them. Will have to try that this year.
we've froze them for the past 18 years and they last for about 8 years in the freezer. Freezing them keeps them dormant.

Nothing "wrong" with it really they are just aweful big to me. That and I don't have to buy anything to make the envelopes. Magazines will work great for these, junk mail, old paper grocery bags, any and all of that cardboard that is wrapped around the peat pots and everything else we already buy.
