Hello everyone!! I am new to the gardenstew forum and EVEN more new to vegetable gardening! I am having an issue with little ants on my pepper plants. They haven't completely taken over and destroyed the plants, actually the plants are starting to grow peppers (yay!!!!) but I don't want to take the chance. How do I get rid of them naturally and or with pesticides?? Thanks!
I don't think the ants will harm your peppers Matilda. However, sometimes ants are present because aphids are present. Do you see any aphids on your peppers?
Most likely they will be under the leaves but check top and bottom. Sometimes they will start on one leaf and then spread to the others. I have heard that sprinkling baking soda on the plant will deter insects but I have not tried it myself. You might give it a try.
I tried the baking soda sprinkled on the plants.....not so good. Well, i take that back, good because I don't see any ants, bad because it seemed to have burned the plant leaves. I watered the plants to get the baki ng soda off, but are the plants ruined now?? :'(
