My mother in law has several beautiful bushes that I need to know the name of so I can get some. We have looked around on the net and have come up empty handed so far. distant view with daughter in her cammo ( photo / image / picture from GreenMachine's Garden ) a bit closer. Photo taken by my 5 yr old son ( photo / image / picture from GreenMachine's Garden ) caught a bit of the branch close up here ( photo / image / picture from GreenMachine's Garden ) 5 yr old again. Blurry but still not to bad. ( photo / image / picture from GreenMachine's Garden )
It looks like White Cedar. Try breaking a branch and see if it smells like cedar. Im not the best at IDing, but its a start
I am leaning towards the Leyland Cypress too. They are more commonly grown as hedge plantings than White Cedar. They are both in the same Family so they do have similarities. Have those ever had cones?
I just planted 60 plants of Thuja (tulia) but mine were the yellow tipped kind. One thing i noticed is the stems are red and so are the roots. Might be worth a look at that way also. The green kind of looks like mine also, but the kind i planted are more of a point at the ends.
ah, it may be cypress. I was trying to think of what conifers had those kind of leaves and the only one I could think of was cedar...
I just looked at some pictures of Thija. THAT IS IT. Thank you so much. Now the challenge will be to find some of them.
Your very welcome GM. I am not one to identify plants,,lol,,i never remember the names of them. But after this spring planting so many of them i think i will never forget. We tore out an fence and replaced with that. Looks so much better.
