Have had some great outings this last month with the tides being so low. One of the interesting shots is the nudibranch with its egg ring on its main food source, the red sponge. The Nudibranch(which I presume means without legs or projections of any kind|) with its egg ring is a curious little creature. In fact I've never even heard of one before. The egg ring looks almost as though it's a slice from some type of friut. How big was the Sunstar? Judging from the seawwed beneath it it would appear to be quite some size. A beautiful shot of the Painted Anemone as I can clearly see its mouth. :-D
It is strange really as I was looking in a guide book by J Duane Sept, and he had a small picture showing the egg ring on the sponge with the nudibranch a little further away. Then I came up with this image which I thought was rather neat.
Those are awesome pics! i was thinking the same as Capt. the ring does look like a red onion slice. Do you take the pics underwater? I know i have tried to photo them above water but the waves always break the pic, and i lose the subject. I would have been bringing home some of that seaweed for dinner and to add to my plants.
Most of the pics are above water, although I do have some that are not. At the low tides when we go out there is very little water movement and I have no problem traking photos
