Hi everyone, Would you all know how to make concrete round stepping stones or square Just something cheap to add a little something to my garden.I just wanted to make something myself, Thank you Margie moderator's note: moved topic to more appropriate forum moderator's note: added a more descriptive title to topic
I made some stepping stones for my garden using those (cheap) plastic water savers for pots...I found the size I wanted, mixed some concrete, poured them, then I added some broken pottery and some pebbles on the top...when it dried I just dumped them over and voila! It did not cost too much and you could use anything like old cake pans or anything similar!
Frisbees work great, so do those cheap plastic planter trays from Walmart of Home depot. Add stones, broken terra cotta or whatever and pour away. Marbles are a great addition.
You could also add large, different coloured, glass 'pebbles' to the bottom of the container. They would look lovely when turned out and be a nice talking point.
Stepping on in Hi Margie, I'm just getting ready to try that myself.We have old styrofoam forms of various sizes. I'll fill with quikrete or the like , dry ,then invert,I'll be working on the bottom . Then we also have tons of old tile and marble samples.I'll break and cut them up add another layer of the setting medium ,set out a sort of mosaic.I'll send a few pictures when done.I plan to put them around my fishpond.
I made a collection of decorative pavers about ten years ago. They aren't fancy, but they add a bit of surprise and whimsy to the garden walk ways. I just used concrete pavers and bricks placed to make the form and some regular cement mix you buy in the bag. The trick was to put my broken glass pieces, or what ever you use onto sticky contact paper to hold them in place. That way you can place them into the freshly mixed cement from the top. Gently and quickly push them into the fresh mix and the moisture will help the pieces let-go from the contact paper. It was the easiest way to get the effect I wanted. So, I made a couple yesterday using tin foil baking pans. How long does it usually take for the concrete to dry?
