Today is the most beautiful day. It is low 70s, sunny, breezy and no humidity. I have been outside all day cleaning up the garden and enjoying the day. (I'm taking a back break right now)

There were 6 young ruby-throated hummingbirds racing and chasing around the yard all day. I heard the thump of a bird hitting the window and went to investigate. The back of our house has a large expanse of windows which is a hazard for the birds. S

This poor little hummer was laying on the deck but as I approached he sat up, which was a good sign. I went to get the camera and he was sitting there dazed but watching me. I snapped a few photos and he flew up on the grill, sat for another few seconds and off he went.

Well Gail...this is one way to get perfect fotos...but you didn't really have to go THAT far, did you!?? :D

She is a lovely specimen. I do not often see fotos of such clarity of this lovely bird.
    You did good.

I'm so glad the little hummingbird made a full recovery Gail. So often when birds come into contact with windows the outcome isn't so pleasant. You certainly managed to get some lovely shots of him before he felt well enough to fly off. Thank goodness you were taking a break and managed to see him fly off to continue his life.
You have a beautiful home and, like EJ said, those windows are amazing and very beautiful. :-D

Thanks EJ,Drissel,Sjoerd, Eileen & Netty for your nice comments. I was so happy to see him sit up but my next reaction was to get the camera before he took off. We do love all the windows, in the spring and summer the sunsets at the back of the house and the views are awesome.

    LOL!

gail, splendid pics and lovely home there. we have a large living room window, and on occasion a hummer does fly into it and gets stunned. they always seem to make it ok tho with a little rest. so happy yours did!

So pleased that the hummer was OK. I've had a few hit the windows, that is the problem with some of the berries as the robins get quite tipsey on some of them.
