I have a thanksgiving cactus will it be ok to re pot it in a bigger pot or should I leave it alone, I thought it would grow some if i do I have had it about 3 years, But it's not grown much, It blooms twice a year but doesn't grow much.It stays very nice but not much growth. I transplanted a Christmas Cactus a few months ago, and it really took off. It's doubled in size. Give it a try.
Cactus Thanks so much, I'll think I will give it a whirl, I would love for it to get bigger, I don't know how big they are suppose to get but bigger is better If I can get it grow. Ill put it in a bigger pot What do you think a size up on the pot or two sizes,? Margie
I love my tropical cacti, and often let them become quite root bound. During spring, I tend to remove some of the segments at the end of the branches and then let it grow all summer. Very often, it will branch off in at least two directions. I like to pot them up by an inch or two and place them outdoors in a protected area where they get a little morning sun. A little fertilizer through the season doesn't hurt, either. You can take the pieces you remove and, after letting them heal for a few days, place them around the base of the plant to increase the "size". Or place them into small pots and share with friends!
Re-potting exotic plants like a cactus is always a good idea so that you can check for root rot as well as consider re-potting in a slightly larger pot to accommodate its new growth
