Hi, Would any one remember the lady that made the concrete birdbath that looked like a big leaf, I know someone that has a great big elephant ear I thought I might use but I have no idea how she made it out of a leaf, Maybe if I could get her instructions I would try it. Thank you Margie moderator's note: added a more descriptive title to topic
This sounds really nice and I'm going to try it too. I have elephants ears, and I think this would look very nice. I love my birdies, so why not have a big leaf bird bath for them, out of one of the leaves. Thanks for posting for the tutorial.
I have seen them done where the leaf was imbedded in playsand upside down so the veins would show. Then the concrete was formed by hand on top and just scooped out into the bowl shape. Of course you have to scoop the playsand to create the hollow for it. Looks simple although I haven`t tried it.
Here's my first attempt. It slid off the board while we were moving it but I think it still turned out OK. I'll do a few more before I decide which will be the top of my birdbath.
Thanks Bethie - that means a lot coming from you. I wanted to make the edges jagged like the edges of the real leaf but once it slid off the board, my hubby took over and tried to fix it. He's the one who added the round edges. I'll try again when I have some time
