The winter weather report for the Ohio River Valley isn't too bad. Dec. is supposed to be wetter than normal, with mostly rain. Jan through Sept is supposed to be cooler than normal but dryer than normal. I can put up with cold, but don't like shoveling that snow!
I haven't seen the Almanac yet Capt. I hope we don't get too much extreme cold this year. We were lucky last year and also didn't get too much snow. I don't mind shoveling - it's the only exercise I get! Only time will tell I guess.
I would be afraid to look at Iowa for this year. We had snow in early October last year and it NEVER went away until Mid March. It was the most exhausting year I can remember. Feet upon feet of snow!!
Wish I would not have looked. We show colder than normal. More snow than normal, but only in the months of December, February and March (that doesn't leave much out after you get past the significant snow in mid-April they list)
I don't put much faith in the Farmers Almanac forecasts for Texas. They do hedge their bets by just saying Texas instead of specific regions of the state. It can be 32 degrees with blowing snow and ice in Amarillo in the upper panhandle, 60 degrees with clear skies here in the north-central region and 70's with rain near the gulf coast....all on the same day. Even the National Weather Service has trouble getting it right for this area.
