As we are snowed in (another 4 inches or so overnight, 8+ inches of settled snow, drifts even deeper) I have started resizing some more pics of our Kew Garden and London visit to celebrate my 40th birthday. I shall add to them as I resize more. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) There are wonderful avenues of stately trees all around the garden. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) I love these gates, the entry to the experimental veggie garden. I was dissapointed to see no winter veggies at all in the garden. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) Views of the stunning palm house. Victorian architecture at it's peak. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) The fountain on the lake at the front of the palm house. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) A closer view of the palm house. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) Some of the monster palms and trees within the palm house. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) This is the view along the narrow walkway around the roof of the palm house, looking along one of the corridors. See how rusty the metal work is. I can't imagine how they get up there to paint it. A good head for heights I guess. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) The beautiful cast iron spiral staircases at either end of the house to access the walkway. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) The view down the huge bamboo cane. Apparently in the height of the growing season, if you stand there long enough, you can see the bamboo growing. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) Another avenue of trees to the Pagoda. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) I was then very brave and went on a tree top walk. Boy was it high, and it swayed ever so slightly in the wind. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) Here I am looking nervous. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) And the view of the glass houses. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) And me holding on for dear life. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) Wonderful palms in the other glass house, whose name escapes me. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) And lastly, me on the spiral stairs in the second glass house.
More Kew Garden pics. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) The Tropcial area in the Princess of Wales conservatory. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) These fab flies were loitering in amongst some banana plants. They appeared to be made from old recycled tin cans and other metal objects. I would love a couple in my conservatory. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) The beautiful lily pond. A few flowers, but of course, in the height of the summer, they would have put on quite a display. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) In an organic garden, this is pest control. ( photo / image / picture from EJ's Garden ) A bromeliad patch. All I have to say is simply amazing. That place is beautiful and I want to go really badly. I think I could probably get lost in there for days.
Great Pictures EJ.I would love to see all of that in person but since I never will.Thank you for taking us all on your tour.I made feel like I was there wish you. I am pretty well snowed in here.We got 12 inces of snow 4 days ago and then 13 more the next 2 days It was -3 last night and is to be 37 degrees .In Texas we kinda would call it snowed in .I have a very terrible cold on top off all that snow. The most snow recieved in November. Is it ok to vent here EJ? so sorry
EJ, thanks for showing the photos. Fantastic plants and buildings. The gate to the veggie garden is gorgeous. Probably too warm in there for winter veggies but I wonder why they of all places wouldn't have a garden area for them?
Oh I soooo want to go to Kew!! I must persuade Ian to take me there for a week-end sometime soon. Thanks for sharing all your wonderful photographs EJ - they've certainly cheered me up.
Oh man, I really enjoyed these EJ.They brought back such good memories. I went up high in the glass houses too, only it was summer and too darn hot to have done so...but how delightful to look down on everything. I just keep looking at these pics over and over again. It´s been too long since I was there. KEW is such an important place, on a number of levels. Keep the pics coming.
Lovely photos EJ, the glass houses are quite spectacular as are the plants and the grounds. What a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday! Thanks for sharing.
Lovely, lovely and green, and colourful too! Thanks for taking the time to post this. Talking about snow: Everybody seem to get snow but us. We need some.
Oh these are so nice to see. Thank you for posting them, EJ. I have put Kew Gardens on my list of places I would love to see in person. Really lovely. You were brave to go up to the tree top walk to see the world from the Bird's eye view. Really nice. Got any more? I hope!
