And no it wasn't my reflection in the mirror, something much better than that.
I had planted 5 black Pansies in this pot a couple of months ago and the battle between me and Pesky the squirrel began. Every morning I would find one or more of the little plants laying on the ground where Pesky had dug them up in his attempt to either bury a pecan or find one that he thought he had planted in the pot last year. End result was the same, plants on the ground and deep holes in the soil.

I attached the wire planter with zip ties and the destruction ended....or it could be that Pesky is the squirrel the local wandering cats killed in my yard around that same time. I found a squirrel tail by the water faucet out back and did not go looking for any more remains!

Anyway, two of them were moved out front where they haven't done anything but sit. This morning I found these staring at the back door, just waiting for me to finally see them, photograph them and show them off.

The larger one is 3 inches/7.6cm across.

Meanwhile out in the front garden I found these little Chrysanthemum blooms hidden under the mound of freeze killed stems that I just hadn't taken time to trim back....until now.

And then there is the evergreen almost always blooming

Aww Toni now I'm turning green with envy!! I soooo want to see something, other than snow, in my garden. I really like the colour of those pansies. :-D
Just let's hope the squirrel tail you found doesn't grow again. ;) :D

What fun! Pansies are so cheerful! They sure are tough, after being ravaged by the naughty squirrel.
Those Mums are cute little things, peekin out from their leaf cover.
My Scabiosa was a constant bloomer too. I think there are still flowers on it, but it's under a layer of leaf mulch now for the winter.

Oh, pansies! *drooling* And such rich colour too! Your scabiosa looks a lot like the little one we've got outside. It doesn't bloom continuously though. It stops in deep autumn and won't start again until the temps are warm enough in June.

Toni, the pansies are really pretty. I guess you did the right thing by covering them up. I love my squirrels, but I know how this time of year they are burying pecans etc. Same thing going on in my yard.

Love the color of that Pansy. I'm jealous, too, with all the color you still have.

It does seem that the colder it gets the more they bloom. The one out back has several more and one out front has one open and a couple of buds forming.

I do plan on having more of them next winter.
