Hi everybody, stumbled accross this site a couple of days ago looking for a home and garden forum.
I've got a house and garden that I need to get done (some rooms just a titivation but some complete redecoration) but have been lacking motivation, so am hoping this site will keep me on track!
My garden was nice till I had a baby and it's been left to rot really :( I was really getting into gardening too, but hoping I can get my garden back to somewhere to go and so my child can play out come the Summer too.
My main problems are lack of time due to having to look after my daughter and money haha, but I have enthusiasm to make up for that!
I'm not afteranything spectacular just a nice place to live you know?
Anyhoo, looking forward to becoming a d=fully fledged member here :) x

    Hi Sugar
Welcome to Gardenstew from southern Ontario!
I have 3 kids so I know all too well about having time to garden! It is a wonderful activity to do WITH your child once he/she gets old enough. I had mine helping plant the veggie garden at a very early age and they enjoyed it. Especially the rewards - eating the veggies!

Hi Netty and thank you for the welcome :)
Yeh I hope my daughter gets into liking gardening when she's older, she's only 1 1/2 right now and the garden isn't suitable for her to be out in yet. x

    Hi Sugar,

Welcome to the group!! You will find lots of ideas for the garden and oodles of people eager to share them. With winter here for most of us, inside activities and planning for the spring are on the daily menu. Since this is a world wide group, for some, winter is a word to look up in the dictionary. :) It's the members that make this site such a great place to visit and enjoy . Have fun exploring the many aspects of GardenStew.

    Jerry

Hi Sugar, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas....where most years Winter is just a word in the dictionary ;)
Glad you found us here, I wish I had started gardening when my girls were younger, I have read many stories of how much fun little ones have learning to grow things.

Welcome from a new Texan. I am finding it hard going gardening due to a few problems that are mostly age related. My boys learned to garden young and now that they have their own families are starting to garden with the grandchildren. I have a great picture of a two year old (still in a diaper) with a huge spade trying to dig in the flowers.
You will find a lot of helpful people here. Just ask your questions and you will get many varied answers from many different parts of the world. We really enjoy this site. dooley

Hello Sugar and welcome to our forums from West Lothian in Scotland.
If you can ccould you post some photographs of you garden/home so that we can see if there is any help we can give you? Seeing pics makes it so much easier for us to know just how to advise you and where you could make a start. :-D

Hi again, and thanls f0or all your replies.. I wish winter was just a word in the dictionary to me, I am sick of being freezing all the time, but soon it will be spring!

Eileen, I';ve put some pics up of my bathroom as that's my first job to get done - I will TRY and get a few rooms done before I have to brave the garden. I am thinking when the nights are light still till 10pm I will be able to get a good few hours graft in.

You know what? My earliest memories also happen to be of planting tomatoes with my mother, picking them when ripe with my father, while watering them in between with my siblings. So yes, whatever you are saying is true! :)
