Capt this is just makes me smile! She's been sitting & pulling the sides higher... and just now she pulled the egg(s) around in the nest. I'll sit at lunch and watch, it's soothing. Thank you!
The bird moved enough to determine that there are three eggs in the eagle nest, none have hatched. One egg has a hole pecked in it about the size of a thumbnail. Jerry
One egg hatched on Sat. but I understand that the camera went down when it hatched. The news today showed the first eaglet. I was just watching and couldn't see anything except momma setting there.
I just caught a quick glimpse of a baby ball of fluff!!! The other two eggs don't seem to have hatched yet but it shouldn't be long now. I'm off for another look.
Earlier I looked and there was a rabbit laying next to the nest. Pappa must have brought them breakfast!
I'm watching it now (along with 122,000 other viewers) and mom (or dad)is trying to coax the two babies to eat some meat from a bird. I think she even made the airplane sounds! Oh wait, that was a motorcycle passing by! The eaglets are cute. One of them is very active and he's so young he can hardly control his big head! It's interesting to see how involved the dad eagle is. Now, the other parent has arrived at the nest and the one that wasn't feeding the babies just settled down on the nest to keep the babies warm. Fun to watch.
The Eagles have been captivating, It is on its own separate monitor window and gets lots of attention. The chick feeding and what is being fed is fascinating. The raptor cam gives us a (oh no!!) birds eye view that we would never see otherwise. Thanks for the heads up Captain, Jerry
The eagle dad (or mom) sure is a good provider. A little while ago, they had a rabbit, a bird, and a fish, and earlier they had a mouse. It seems like the parent is teaching the babies to smell where the food is -- have you noticed that? She (he?) puts it near the baby's beak but waits for the baby to take it.
