These are 2 birdbaths I made with junk from thrift shops. Although the blue one, needs redone as it didn't hold up with silicone? Any suggestions? moderator's note: added a more descriptive title to topic
Those are gorgeous, and I hope your lucky birds appreciate them! The only thing I can think of for the blue one is Gorilla Glue (available at hardware stores and big box DYIs). It will hold almost anything, but read the label first--it may not be so good for glass. Your thrift stores are a lot classier than ours!
thanks Thank you for comments, I do have gorilla glue, was always told to use outdoor silicone since its clear. I use the door and window, but doesn't seem to be that good. I wanna try some totems for deco in flower beds next.
Beautiful! Did you just attached the "bowls" to something you had? or did you have to take something apart to get the stands?
Those are gorgeous! The best glue I've ever used is called "Amazing GOOP All Purpose Contact Adhesive and Sealant". I found it last year and have glue wood, glass, plastic, porcelain all sorts of stuff... indoors & out. Even sealed my little plexiglass aquarium with it. Everything I've used it on is still holding together very nicely.
glue I will look for that goop glue! Thanks, I just hate when ya spend time to make something and set outside to have it come apart! Everyone always makes stuff look easy and that is the worst problem I have is glues!!!I had all the parts seperate didn't have to take anything apart. You can find old dishes, plates and candle holder stands of all sorts to put something together.
You picked out some beauties and did a great job. I feel your frustration of having to redo an already fabulous job. I hope you'll find the right glue for your projects!
Those are so creative & really pretty! I especially love the blue one with the twisted wrought-iron stand. There is a product that i've used in the past.... haven't used in years, tho, so I don't know how readily available it is. It's called "Liquid Glass". Comes in a tube & will bond glass to glass or glass to metal or can be used to repair hairline cracks in dishes, etc., invisibly. Sure you could find it if you google it, though.
I'm so glad that this post was revisited. I have an old wooden lamp "pedestal" that I've been saving to use somewhere in the garden. What's the best way to preserve the wood from the elements? Water seal? Clear coat? Shellac?
