Okay... so there's no picture. But IF, I had my camera with me this evening... and IF my camera had a better zoom... and IF my dog wasn't chasing squirrels that weren't there...and IF there wasn't an siren screeching heading down the road... and IF I was really quick with the shutter... THEN I would have had THE picture of the century!
A female red bird was perched in the tree just singing away and her mate flew up and gave her a kiss! :smt008 Really! He did! (Okay... I know he was just giving her a seed... but darn it... it REALLY looked like a little smooch!)
    Ohh... only IF...

When I clicked on this post to read, I thought you too (like me) must have taken a picture of a policeman indulging in buffoonery. As that's what I had called "Pic of the Century"! :)

Cheryl, the best photos happen when the camera is either out of batteries or sitting in the house. I like to think of them as kissing too.

That would have been a shot to remember alright. Imagine the YouTube potential if you caught it on video.

Don't you just wish sometimes that your eyes were cameras? One blink and you'd have such terrific photographs.
Cheryl your description certainly conjured up a scene in my mind that made me smile and that's the best kind of picture. :stew1:

Frustrating moments of a shutterbug. I can imagine your picture laced with excitement and no camera, your post is just as vivid and it only took 110 words.

    Great picture Cheryl!!

Word pictures are sometimes better... your description of what all was going on and yet you had the opportunity to see that KISS. Perfect!

Thanks everyone. Now... if only the hummingbirds wouldn't fly away every time I even think of picking up the camera. :D

Cheryl, you have now discovered that hummingbirds are telepathic.:) Think something else when reaching for the camera.

Well... I tricked one today... I pretended to stare blankly into space... humming (pun intended) some old song from 1962 (remember that Bob Seger song?) Anyhow... camera in hand and already zoomed in... gotcha!

A hummer of a photo, elusive little creatures. In the summer, 'look' for my wife means look at the hummingbird feeder, it seems they are there for one drink and then are gone.

I always have a perch handy for them.

Then they can rest while feeding.

Thank you Kildale, when the hummingbird feeder goes up this year it will have a convenient perch.

    Those are WONDERFUL photos Kildale.
And my feeders do have little perches at the "feeders".
Just a bit ago (while camera is safely tucked inside), one just sat there for what had to be an entire minute. Then moved to the flower and fed. Then sat back at the feeder. I told him "better watch out, I have a camera".
He just sat there like he knew better! :D
