Lilium asiaticum (Asiatic Lily) The photos on the plant page are all from my garden. They are beautiful and long lasting. Mine have buds growing now but it will be a couple of weeks before they bloom.

I planted four a month ago (my first ones). They have buds, but I guess it'll be another few weeks before they bloom. I can't wait to see them!
Asiatic lilies are among my favorites! I love the beautiful flowers, and the variety of colors. My kids used to call them "pineapple plants" because of the way the foliage comes up out of the ground every spring, they said it looked like a pineapple. Silly, but I still call them that. I can find potted plants each spring for sale, but they are very prolific, and I can usually gather some from a garden that has plenty.
Good morning, I grow asiatic lillies here in Aus. I know the climate where I live is way different to most of you others but thought you might like to see what I have, I leave them in the ground all year, they die down about now and come back to life just before Christmastime,great for table decorating. We grow them, and they're such carefree bulbs. I put them in the ground and that's it really. I divide the clumps now and then. What I like about them is the wide variety of colours.
Hey Margie, I read "artistic" and I was "what???" If you mean Asiatic... yup. got lots of these, different colors. But I myself, prefer the Oriental lilies...as the blooms are way bigger and they smell heavenly. These asiatics have no fragrance whatsoever! But if you have even just one Oriental in your garden, you will most likely sense the perfume. Just a thought! Some Asiatics: Some Orientals: Can you TELL the difference???
Nice display,..no i certainly looked at each,..couldn't tell the difference?. I was surprised at how hardy they are,..given the name i presumed frost would kill them off,..we had -19C here during the winter,..it never bothered them at all.
Calin, your lilies are gorgeous, do you have the names of any of them? We have the Asiatic, and they are just beautiful. The buds are on, and should be blooming before long. We just love them, and are excited to see the flowers. Very hardy, and easy to take care for.
Welcome Cherylad. If i could choose, I'd only have orientals (if space was limited) The bip... no idea about names. With the plants you have lots of names and cultivars (like roses, lilies, daylilies, etc) I don't seem to care about names. Philip- there sure is a difference.If you put a ruler next to each, you will see the orientals (are supposed to) have larger blooms. AND well... the fragrance. I mean it. Asiatics have no fragrance, while one oriental bloom can fill up a perfume bottle.
