I've been wanting to do one of these since I first saw it in EJ's garden.
And I managed to do it without spending hardly money at all. The pots have just been hanging around. I did have to buy a piece of rebar ($4.00) and the plants... well... got them all for less than $3.00 from the markdown rack.

    Salvias on the bottom

Next are the Blue Clips Bellflower (Campanula carpatica "Blue Clips")

Dug up a little clump of the wild pink shamrocks

And then topped it off with Peter's Gold Carpet (Bidens feruliloia) and a left over Salvia.

If that isn't an eye catcher, fantastic Cheryl!! Clever idea, I will have to look for EJ's post to see more. Does the rebar go through the center hole in each pot or did you drill extra holes?

No drilling required. The rebar just goes through the existing holes. Easy as pie to build!
here's a link to the website that I used to guide me.

I think I may need to move mine to a sunnier location ... but with the 100F temps not far away... maybe a little shade will be a good thing? :headscratch:
I will grab any more terra cotta pots that are being tossed aside to make another one!

I was just thinking of all the terra cotta pots that I threw away before plastic, :-( now I actively hunt for them. And that piece of rebar left over from building a foundation footing. I know it is under the deck somewhere. The banes of a junk collector :) :(

Thank you for the web site, interesting place,

    Jerry

Thanks everyone... the only credit I can take is remembering what I saw!
I did get the responses I was hoping for. Hubby said "I'll be darn... it does look like they are just resting on each other".
Big brother "the dragon" said... "Wow. I actually like something she's done that isn't perfectly straight."
Other brother said today... "Uh ohh.... wait until the wife sees this!" (Which translates into... you'd better get the stuff together and make one for her.)
    :D

Every once and awhile you do or create something that provides the viewer's eye with a puzzle the brain has to think on and sort out. Your pots are such an eye puzzle that draws a spectrum replies. Thank you,

Very nice combination of plants in your tipsy planter. I made one a few years ago from pots I had and bamboo stakes. Here is a photo
