I bought a smallish climbing hydrangea about 4 years ago. So far no blooms. It's grown tall and it seems to be filling out some this season so far.. Does anyone have any experience with this plant? I like it because it will add vertical dimension to my shade garden... just getting impatient for blooms. :-?

It is not unusual for the Climbing Hydrangea to take up to 5 years before it start blooming, so you just have to be patient. It is well worth the wait :)

"First it sleeps, then it creeps, then it leaps".

We cut 2-3 feet off this old plant every year to keep it away from the roof. It had maybe 2 hours of sunlight a day.

PS: This is NOT recommended - having it climb on the house - the stems leave a residue that is very difficult to remove.

Isn't that the truth. 3 years ago I planted Lilac Trees. The first year they did nadda, the second year did barely anything, this year it's as if I fed them steroids lol!
