Most of the herbs I plant are those that I often use for cooking and those with medicinal benefits. I try to plant them even during the cold season as well.

    Favorite Herb

I can't believe that my favorite herb gets so little recognition. Everybody knows that rosemary is a favorite wherever it is used on any meat dish.

    Favorite Herb

It's hard to pick a favorite herb. They are all wonderful. Right now I am growing rosemary, basil, chives and garlic. I appreciate the garlic most because they seemed to have solved an insect problem with a small hibiscus plant in my yard. After planting several garlic plants around the base of the hibiscus plant the insects went away. Someone told me that garlic would repel insects and it seems to have worked for me.

    Favourite herbs

Here is my herb list. It all began from a very young age :)

In my childhood I lived in the country and I picked Chamomile with my friends. We also went in the forest to gather Lime.

My Grandma grew Marigold and in the garden we had Mint and Basil.

My parents gathered Nettle, Yarrow and St. John's Wort.

Know I live in a city and must buy herbs I don't have from my mother or mother-in-law - Echinacea, Sage, Coltsfoot.

Rosemary, Thyme and Basil are my staples for cooking.

Garlic, chives, green onions, Oregano, parsley in that order. I can only dream of growing enough garlic for the amount I use every year. I would have an acre of it and probably not enough to dry and grind for all year.

Fresh Curry Leaf ( Murraya Konagi ) is an essential herb, a small shrub that adds a subtle undertone to Indian, Sri Lankan and Malaysian curries and is one of the herbs we use most often..the dried version is almost tasteless.
Then comes fresh basil, rosemary, oregano, thyme and marjoriam, chillies and of course garlic.
Also lemongrass and ginger get used often in cooking Asian dishes and curries.

Wow so many herbs so little time. It's very hard to pick just one but I will try. I guess I would have to say oregano. The reason being I love it in sauces and it is widely used in a variety dishes.

Too many to choose from i think. i have rosemary, sage, thyme, orange scented thyme, and russian tarragon in the garden. and have cumin, oregano, and dill waiting to go outside. You need to take a chicken breast, cover it with plenty of thyme, lemon zest and parmasan, wrap it in parma ham and bang it in the pan!!! hmmmmmmmmm :-D its the best!!!
