This log was a tip idea for my web site, to finish off the page we wanted a bird using it. I put it up, and in about an hour I had a little bird trying to get the suet.

I have a giant woodpecker about that size, he's got a big bright red head too... he wakes me up every morning pecking, it echoes off the mountains..

This pileated, a female, comes everyday and I go out with food for it. I don't have this log up though, this was a one off, I wanted a photo of a bird using this log.

Well your idea certainly worked well Kildale. Your 'little' bird gave you the perfect opportunity for the photograph you wanted didn't she? Well worth the hours wait. :-D

I will show you the page when it is finished, not really about the log, as that is well known.

I have a basket that I fill with old bread, rolls, cookies, whatever I have and the woodpeckers love it as well as all the other birds do too. :stew2:
