Purple 4-petal Something - Needs Identification ( photo / image / picture from jb19012's Garden ) I cannot identify this new visitor to my meadow. This plant stands about 30 inches tall and has about 12 inches of stalk with this purple flower in clusters on it. It is not wild radish unless the leave is completely differently. The leaf is medium green, about 6-8 inches long, pointed and not wide with a white central vein running most of the length. Many thanks to anyone willing to guess or provide assistance. Jim
I knew those wild flowers as Dames Rocket. Some people call it wild Phlox. Hesperis matronalis (Dame's Rocket)
Woo Hoo! A Match! I think we have a winner! Thanks SO much. I guess there are many varieties, but the photos I see have all the right, matching parts. Have a wonderful weekend.
I wonder, JB-- could you post a foto of the leaves if this plant? I have Hesperis matronalis growing in my garden, but the flower petals look a bit differently--mine are not as slender as the ones in your picture.
