Hi I'm from Florida and trying to grow things. I was growing things much better up north, don't know why.

Hello, Cool, and a warm welcome to the Stew. We moved to a warmer climate (Texas) from a cooler one, and found that gardening was quite different. Instead of a short but green growing season, we now have two growing seasons and a dormant time in between.
You'll get the hang of it, especially with all the good help and advice you'll find here.

Hi Cool, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas.

Wander through a local garden center to see what plants will grow in your new location. Sometimes changing your location also changes your gardening habits.
If you are in south Florida you will find so many plants that will be healthy and happy there. I lived in West Palm Beach for several years and I swear you could put a toothpick in a pot of dirt and it would sprout roots and leaves. ;)

Hi CoolasaCucumber... glad to meet you. Welcome here from southern MO. :stew1: I have some friends from Florida, I will ask them for some suggestions. Northern plants do not like the heat.

Hi CoolAsACucumber, welcome to GardenStew from Chelmsford MA, there are plenty of forums, gardens, blogs and plants to explore. You may have to re-train your northern green thumb to be a southern green thumb. A trip to your local nursery or garden center should get you started on what works well in your area. Temperature cycles, lighting conditions, humidity and rainfall have all changed for you. You have an exciting new world of plants and gardening ahead. I envy the variety and your growing period. Good luck and enjoy. Welcome aboard.

    Jerry

Hi There and welcome from Southern Middle Tennessee. I'm a newbie here myself. This is a friendly and helpful board.

I'm sure that you will master the challengers of growing in a warmer zone in no time, esp. with the help of everyone here.
