They aren't planted together... although I can almost imagine "color overload" if they were! Toni sent me the seeds for the Bean Vine... and I have to thank her publicly for them. They are the favorites of everyone who has come to visit... not to mention a favorite of the hummingbirds and butterflies too. I started off with just the "regular" pink & purple ones, but added a pack of seeds of the orange & yellow ones. After the pinks were done these really took off. And this is their "second-go-round". There's a few of the pink/purple one's sprouting again, but nothing like these. I think they will probably be my only "fall" colors. They may be the only flowers that you've posted photographs of since last month Cheryl but aren't they beautiful? I love the Hyacinth Bean Vine and those cosmos colours really pop. :-D Most of my flowers have died back for this year so it's really nice to see yours are still in bloom and looking good.
Your welcome Cheryl. Just think about all the HBV seeds you are going to have for next year That one is doing great, I love to see them all covered with all that purple. I really like that long bed of Cosmos. You'll be finding those seedlings in the grass and bed for years to come. I have some of the orange cosmos that has been blooming since mid-August, struggling in the heat but doing much better now.
Thanks Eileen... they sure a sight amongst all the dead and dying grass. Toni... I've gathered quite a bit of seeds from both sets of the Cosmos, even though they will reseed themselves quite nicely. But just in case, I wanted to seeds as a back up. And the HBV is really putting on lots of pods now. I've been waiting patiently to gather some to share and to resow next year.
Cosmos don't reseed here, I wish they did. The seeds I bought last year were duds...most didn't come up or the bunnies ate them. First time I have seen that vine that I can remember...I can't blame the hummingbirds for enjoying it. Thanks for sharing, very pretty.
Hi Cheryl, i would like the HBV in my garden,..big with very nice flowers,..and the Cosmos,..i go for orange,..you have a nice splash of colour for Autumn.
