Monarch caterpillar ( photo / image / picture from Sherry8's Garden ) Here is the Monarch caterpillar that I took a picture on August 31 and the next day it was a chrysalis on Sept. 1... Chrysalis 2011 ( photo / image / picture from Sherry8's Garden ) Now yesterday on Sept. 19 I looked at it and it was all dark and it seemed to move a little... Monarch chrysalis ( photo / image / picture from Sherry8's Garden ) Shortly after I noticed it and I could see the butterfly in it, it started coming out of the chrysalis...at first it was out of shape but then it looked better... Now that's really something!! How I wish I could have watched all the stages of that butterfly emerging for myself. Many thanks for the photographs.
Thank you all so much....I was like a little kid when it was coming out... I had my bird cam on it to and if the pictures would of turned out, they would of been great to see every step of it coming out of the chrysalis. I had almost 800 pictures of it but the camera was sitting too close and it focused on something else. Darn! It was wiggling so much coming out. :'(
Sherry that had to be amazing to watch. I've yet to find a Chrysalis on any plant. You did a superb job photographing this whole process!
Very cool Sherry, I also have not found any Chrysalis on my plants, even though I have planted some host plants. Maybe next year.
