I love to use dried hydrangeas throughout the house in the winter months. The problem is they tend to fade away to beige. This year I hope I've conquered that a bit. I sprayed the hydrangeas with hair spray to keep them protected and stiff, and to that I added a few drops of acrylics, cobalt blue and alizarin crimson. They added just a touch of color that i hope will take me through the long days of winter. My house smelled like a hair salon for a couple of days though. :D

You MADE that wreath? Wow! It is truly lovely and looks like something you'd find in a florist shop.
Hope the colors hold for you.
Must be nice to be so artistically talented . . . .

I will let you know Cheryl. Martin, thanks...the wreath and leaves itself were an old one, I took off the old silk roses and upcycled it with this year's hydrangeas.

It looks great. I hope the color holds up that way for you. I like the hydrangeas, but not the brown that they fade to.

I love hydrangeas :p Unfortunately I can't grow them in this arid climate. I have a dried one in the cutest vase on my dresser. Is is very fragile :-o Your wreath is awesome! I hope the color stays for you

That's a lovely way to keep hydrangeas throughout the winter Kathy. Let's hope the hair spray and acrylics do the trick so that the colours won't fade too much.

Thanks everyone...we'll see how it fares this winter...hopefully the little added boost of acrylics will keep the colors going a little longer.
