Hey there, new here ... found it searching through google. Nice site and forums ;)

I live in the Ottawa/Outaouais region in Canada and I'm posting for my mom. She has a lilac that gave a few flowers this year (finally :) ). Weird thing is, when she passed by it yesterday, she noticed a new flowers popping out?!! Is this normal getting new lilac flowers this late in the summer?

    TIA!

I don't know about lilacs, but my irises bloomed twice last year. Spring and fall. I had purple irises on my table for Thanksgiving. Must be the crazy weather patterns. Dooley

    Hiya Karinne!!!

Glad you've joined us here at GardenStew. :-D

Depending on weather conditions some lilacs will flower twice in one year - even one of mine has and I'm from Scotland. :-D Just make sure that you prune the bush back after all the flowers have faded so that it conserves enough energy to flower again next year for your mum.

I love lilacs - but don't have a lot of luck with them. It's not that I can't grow them - it is that my husband tends to get too close to them with the trimmer. I haven't had any blossom more than once in a season.
