Lukeypukey, 'Archangel Eyes' does draw some comments. Maybe that's because it's a little more subtle in its colouring than most of the others. Sratsmom, the choice is just unbelievable! I often wonder where the inspiration for the names comes from. 'Jamaican Me Crazy' is definitely living up to its name.

What gorgeous day lilies. They are so beautiful, and thank goodness very undestructible. Do you have any of the long blooming daylilies? Daylily (Hemerocallis) petals and buds are edible. I have not eaten them yet, but was reading about it in my favorite cookbook. I plan on eating some next spring and summer up here. If you are adventurous, let us know.
Karrma, some of my Daylilies will continue to bloom until the end of our Spring. As they're all still rather new, I expect that as they get older and spread more, the flowering might continue a little longer. At the moment the ones I planted last year only have a couple of scapes on them. I'm seeing more scapes than previously on the older ones of course. Haven't eaten either the petals or the buds. I had no idea they were edible and I'm not all that game to try them, lol!

Bernieh, Good! Pretty Daylily blooms for you just when I am tucking them in for the winter. You can keep us supplied with colorful blooms while we lie dormant!

Hi Bernieh--Beautiful blooms. So nice for us in the north to see, as ours are long passed. I love the morning stroll when you get to see what has opened since you were last in the garden. Re edible daylilies, I grew up eating the unopened buds. They are what is called "golden needles" in chinese cooking. My family grew the orange species, and one of my jobs was picking some buds to throw in stir-fries for dinner. Completely safe, but I do not think I would care to waste such beautiful buds as you have on my stomach! I also don't know how well the deep red ones would taste/appear. When my deep red ones bloom and then age, the flowers will drip red water. Not very appealing in a meal. I also have experienced color change in dayliy buds. I think it takes a season or two for the plant to mature and "express" its true colors. Over the summer, someone posted an interesting picture of an iris. Its 1st year it was oddly/interestingly colored. By the second year it was performing the way the catalog described. Anyone else remember this? We were all remarking upon it.
