Thanks for the welcome - I like the boats! A bit about little me...well, I'm 37 and a particlar herb and cactus fan when it comes to plants, although love most of nature in general too. Living in a city, there's not much real nature around which is where my love of birds probably started...out of all the animal kindgom they're the only ones that you can see living wild on a daily basis in cities, and it's great to see them going about their business and the interaction they have with each other.

I to love birds but the cats my son has next door keeps them away.It looks like they are able to get the sunflower seeds out of my drying ones on the stems anyway.

We live in a small town. Our neighbor has a bird santuary and I've seen more different kinds of birds since we moved here. They kind of hang out in our yard too sometimes. We do have some stray cats, but there are lots of bushes and trees for the birds to escape into. Dooley

Welcome Wildbird and Melisa. I have 8 bird feeders and no cat. We have hummingbirds, finches and "other" birds. I use about 80 pound of regular wild bird seed and 20 pound of niger every month or six weeks.

Thanks for all the welcomes :) And also thanks jubabe296 for the tip about cranbrook2's blog, . I've just been there and my mouth is agape with amazement at those birdhouses, or should it be bird mansions. Those are stunning.

Hey reggaefan, that's a really cute looking dog. I bet if the cats got too close to the birds he could chase them well away. :)
