    Hey all,

Anyone have a problem with oppossums getting into the veggie patch? I saw a pretty big one last week crawling along the backyard wall, and was wondering if I should be worried about the garden.

Probably not unless you use meat in your compost. :smt018

Opossums don't bother our compost nor our vegetable garden. They usually just wander around looking bemused. They will eat vegetables, but prefer eggs, snails and slugs, grass, and several small insects. On the whole, they aren't a bad gardening neighbor. If you are worried about the opossum getting into your garden, try putting out some thorny trimmings (roses canes, blackberry canes, that sort of thing) around your garden. Opossums have tender noses!

I agree with Jane. You might also want to keep CAT FOOD put up at nighttime. They love it. But of course that is only if you have a cat. :-D
