Only 12 more days until the start of Summer. Springtime here is almost over and the 'dry' season is drawing to a close as well. There's still quite a bit of colour in various corners of my place despite the parched conditions, especially in my tiny Daylily Corner of the tiered garden beds. The dark varieties have been strutting their stuff lately.

Here's Hemerocallis 'Bela Lugosi' with its deep purple ruffled petals.

To the left in the shot below is Hemerocallis 'Jamaican Midnight' with its dark purple/black bloom,

and this is Hemerocallis 'Velvet Eyes' with its vibrant red petals and velvety black red eye.

Of course, there have been some brighter Daylily blooms as well.

    Here's Hemerocallis 'Continental Holiday'.

    Here's Hemerocallis 'Sweet Summer Heat',

and this is Hemerocallis 'Picotee Bubbles.'

Hemerocallis 'Blackberry Jack' has been flowering the longest out of all the varieties, and it's still putting on a show.

Hemerocallis 'Jamaican Me Crazy' certainly lights up this spot in the tiered garden bed, and makes a great partner for Hemerocallis 'Bela Lugosi' in the background.

It's been fabulous seeing Hemerocallis 'Sabine Baur' in all her beauty too.

The first unusual bracts and blooms are appearing on my Mussaenda philippica x erythrophylla 'Calcutta Sunset'. Both the yellow mottled red and orange bracts and the greenish white flowers are rather tiny compared to the other Mussaendas that grow in my garden. I'm looking forward to seeing the display as summer rolls in.

Elsewhere in the tiered garden beds, the Salvia guaranitica 'Black and Blue' is flowering once more,

as is the Salvia farinacea 'Victoria Blue'.

Around the property all the Poinciana trees, Delonix regias, are covered in their bright red flowers now.

The last of the Oriental Lilies is on show out in the shadehouse, and it's just beautiful.

While out in the courtyard, the potted Gardenia augusta continues to bloom,

and I just love the way those brilliant pure white flowers fade into a golden buttery yellow as they age.

Elsewhere in the courtyard garden, the Torenia 'Violet Magic' just keeps on flashing its gorgeous purple flowers,

    as does Plectranthus 'Mona Lavender'.

Oh my goodness! What a show you have going on now.
You know I love the Lilies... and you sure have some beauties. And the rest... wow! Must be a glorious sight to behold in person.

Hi Cherylad, even though our property is quite large, the garden areas are not. Most of these flowering beauties are out on the courtyard in pots, in the shadehouse or in the tiered garden beds next to the shadehouse. The show is fine in these areas, but elsewhere it's very dry and parched here right now. The bushland around us and the yard are all a pretty shade of brown!

One of the benefits of a worldwide community is you get to see spring twice a year and enjoy great flowers from 'down under.' Great flowers Bernie, as a daylily fancier I liked the Jamaican Midnight and the Velvet Eyes.

I'll be enjoying all the winter shots too, Jerry, as I never get to see snow or frost! Snow scenes look quite beautiful to me.

As for the Daylilies, for once the lighting was great and I managed to capture the true colour of 'Velvet Eyes'. 'Jamaican Me Crazy' looks great in any light! It's hare to miss.

Eileen, unfortunately our Summer is just around the corner and in my north-eastern corner of Oz, Summer can be tough going. Most of the lovely flowering plants give up around mid to late December from the heat and humidity. Fingers crossed that it's a mild start to Summer and I can keep on posting for a few weeks to come.

You're most welcome, Don. It's terrific to see colour like this during the dry season here. It helps to raise the spirits a lot.

Berneih, they are all so lovely. Thanks for sharing. We are going into the coldest part of the seasons in the next 6 weeks. this morning it was 20f out side. brrrr. I'm thinking that my high tunnel is now finished. I am sure the row covers in there were not enough to keep them from freezing :'( So it is lovely to see fresh new flowers from someones garden.

Ooh, Carolyn, that sounds freezing to me! Your garden tries to survive the freeze and mine is about to be fried!!
