Meet Penny. She is acting like velcro most of the time. We picked her up from a 'breeder'. Cramped, filthy, wet conditions, lacking proper shelter. She's more like a rescue. We were lied to about her age as well. We were told she was 10 weeks old and she is 30 days older than that. Very, very hand shy, which leads me to think she and her litter mates were given very little attention, or were perhaps swatted about when feeding time came around.

She is not 'dumb as a box of hammers' as I feared. She has begun to recognize her name, and has learned to navigate the steps up and down from the deck and back stoop.

I'm feeding her 1/3 to 1/2 cup of puppy food 4 times per day.

The 'breeder' has been reported to animal control, and I am in the process of notifying the kennel club and breeders association about the conditions I found this little dog in. She is not exactly what I was looking for in a Jack Russell, but I couldn't leave her there, I wanted to rescue a couple of others but I couldn't afford to do so.

She looks very comfy there! :stew2: I'm so glad you brought her home with you, and I'm very pleased that the "breeder" is being reported. Good work!

Penny looks very loving. I'm so glad the breeders are being reported.
I saved a Husky-mix a few years ago from some people that had her and her litter mates out in a dirt area with no type of protection and evidently no human contact. She was SO shy. I was the only person that could ever get near her. It's sad that people will treat any kind of animal this way.
So FBG... great job on rescuing her!

FBG, you old softie, you (bless you!). Penny has a wonderful loving home now. And you have a great little companion.
A word of warning--Jack Russels are very, very intelligent. They are so smart that they'll have you trained before you know it. But, perhaps that has happened, judging from the photo :) .

Let's hope the (so called) breeder, will be severely prosecuted for the way she's keeping her animals. Thank goodness you had the courage to report her and let the authorities know of the conditions the dogs were living in.
Penny looks as though she's taken to you hook, line and sinker and vice versa. :D I wish you many, many happy years together and hope her litter mates find equally loving homes away from the squaller they are in now.
