My hot and mild peppers are up this morning after being seeded on Feb 2. Not bad. I am doing the Happy pepper dance and trying NOT to plant tomatoes for another week at least.

Wow, and peppers are notoriously slow to germinate! You sure are doing something right.
    Go ahead, plant a few tomatoes--you can have fun up-potting them, and up-potting, and up-potting . . . .

I don't up-pot. Not at all. They might get a little root-bound, but I soak the whole pot on planting day and tease the roots apart with my fingers. I spread them out and plant deep so I get more roots along the stem. I am just not able to do all that (what I consider) extra work. I used to do it but not for the last few years. I don't see any difference in how many tomatoes I get or how soon, so why bother? I know lots of people like the idea of starting tiny and going to a 3, then a 6 inch pot and setting out huge plants, but I don't give them much extra N and try to keep them a little on the small and stocky side. Works for me.

My peppers are up but they sure did take their time this year. I planted them indoors the second week in January.

AND...what kind did you start...and where did they come from? good and quick germination is always a positive for a seed supplier. I used a commercial supplier this year and am totally impressed with what I have germinated so far. So I am really anxious to see how the peppers and eggplant do.

    peppers

I used saved seeds of "Fish Pepper", if you don't grow it, it's a variegated plant, peppers, leaves and all. Hot, maybe 2 ft tall and wide. I bought some seeds of "Corno de Toro",have to look up the source, bad memory here. Supposed to be no heat.
Danj~ I will set them out in their summer location around April 15th if the weather looks good for the week.
ETA: The mild pepper seeds are from TGS.

I have heard of fish peppers, I think they came from trinidad and corno di toro aka horn of the bull, I grew these a few years ago. I forgot to try them again last year since I had several long red sweet ones, I messed up and forgot to lable them and wasn't sure which was which, as I was only guessing.

Here's the picture. It was on the camera which must mean the card went to heck, oh well it's way cheaper than a new camera.

Hi Carolyn: the peppers that you sent me have started sprouting...planted them last Sunday (2/12) with the maters on a regular old heating pad... the maters have all sprouted and have been moved to the window...meanwhile, after i put the dome back over the peppers yesterday, they are popping up today. Will send pics soon..

    Thanks again!!!

    Rockhound: Those look really good!!

I was just out at the store & found a Trinidad Scorpion plant--the hottest pepper in the world! I don't know what I'm going to do w/ the peppers when they grow, but I was pretty excited to find a plant for this variety. :-o
