    Hi all,

After a few months of absolute gardening-nothingness, spring is (almost) here and lots of things are happening in my garden(s). Time to shake those winterblues, yippee! :-D

The mice in my garden have also woken up, I saw two of them scurrying about yesterday. As long as they stay outside it's okay. (I once lived in an old, mice-infested house, and I know that having those little furry fellows indoors is an entirely different matter  !)
One of them has a little plastic collar, probably remains of some white plastic bag it gnawed it's way out of. Doesn't seem to bother it at all, but makes it look like a little mouse-clown :D I tried to take some pictures, but they turned out too blurry.

I've started sowing lots of seeds, in- and outdoors. Also decided it's time for the lawn in the 2nd garden to go, as it's mostly moss and dandelions now anyway. I'll turn it over & sow in summer meadow seeds. Good for my friends the bees and butterflies
    :-D

I noticed some mouse tracks in the snow on my dog walk this morning. The Robins are here too...definitely signs that spring is on the way. I haven't started any seeds yet, but SOON :)

GardenElf I am jealous. Our spring won't start for another 10wks at least. :'( But we did see a mouse wearing a collar today. Well it was actually in a mouse trap that was in our attached garage. So it wasn't as cute as yours  Mice outside are ok. But like you said, not in the house.

Spring has been here almost all winter :-? I hardly had to carry water to the chickens all of Dec and January. Then not quite all of Feb. I have really appreciated it. Now about the mice...I off'd a few in the greenhouse earlier in the fall,(and I just now found the remains when I was out potting up tomatoes) but they didn't have the honor of collars. Then when we went to take down the greenhouse we bought a couple of weeks ago, I picked up a folding table (it folds in 1/2) and I moved it and at the same time a few mice jumped out. I closed it all the way quick, as I saw a few more, so I took it out to the driveway and out jumped another dozen or so....What a shriek. I wish the cats were there to help out, now that would have been a hoot. But we couldn't believe how many were in there .

    Carolyn,

Yes, unfortunately where there's one mouse, there are usually loads, I've read a minimum of 50

The mouse-house I mentioned had a shared kitchen. Someone once left an open cornflakes box on the worktop, and as I picked it up to move it out of the way, this mouse jumped out. Never knew they could jump that high! I bet this poor little guy didn't know humans could shriek so loud, either :D

All the mice that visit my cellar get a free lunch, catered by d-CON. They can eat as much as they want. Fortunately I don't get any repeat customers.

Oh I am so jealous! We have had a mild winter here, but it is still winter nonetheless. I took a tour of the garden yesterday and saw nada yet.
