Jerry, thats a walking iris, also called a one day iris since the blooms only last for one day (I just recently found this out, lol). I thought my aunt was joking when she said that if you blink you'll miss it but she was right. I had just barely caught the first bloom in time to see it fully open and as night rolled around it slowly closed and shriveled up lol. I was lucky that it continued to bloom throughout the summer which my aunt didnt like one bit since she had been trying to get hers to bloom for the last year or so and when it did bloom it only bloomed once lol. So i been trying to figure out why her's hadnt been blooming so she can enjoy the blooms once more. It along with all the flowers given to me which includes most in the pic with the window planter are my favorite cause they were given to me and i hope i'm able to share a piece of them with someone later on to continue to spread the joy of gardening.

I found how these Iris walk. They fall over and the spent flower has a young plant that sprouts. Growing in zone 8-11 none will walk this way. :-(
