I subscribed to Texas Gardener for several years, but the topics became repetitious. Now I just get on GardenStew for my gardening news/ideas/help!

I don't have a current favorite. I have had in the past, subscriptions to Organic Gardening and MEN. Both have continues to increase ad space so that content is very little if you skip all the ads and yes, repetitious over the years. Yuppie subjects don't hold my interest long, just like most gardening shows on TV now. All flowers and ornamental with maybe a nod to putting out an herb garden. I like to be able to find websites that do have info on subjects I'm interested in. I like the forums vs blog-types where one guy talks endlessly about his ideas. Not much of a "follower". I like to cherry-pick ideas instead of saying all Rodales (for instance) ideas are good. I don't have a garden hero. :)

The current garden mag I receive is called GPN...free trade mag for greenhouse growers. lots of ads also. most things I have no idea what they are as I try to stay as chemical free as I can.

I sometimes get Garden West magazine when they use my photos, they send me a copy. Insects usually, but they asked for herons just before I left for AZ, they also asked for eagles and raccoons. I sent them a few pics of the birds so will see if they use any, they said they would.

Mother Earth News for me. Don't care for everything they print, but, I think it is the best of what floats. YMMV.

I like Garden Gate. It has great photos, ideas and plain English garden talk.
My friend gave me a subscription to Garden Design. It is a bit upscale for me. Beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces from around the world. Amazing to see how rich people spend their money.

I love Garden Gate, too. I just wish it was a monthly instead. I think it is a little pricey as I just like to look at it, so I check it out at the library if I am hanging around up there.

I like Horticulture and Garden Design. GD is a little over the top, but I get ideas for plant combinations and design ideas. Otherwise, I REALLY enjoy the plant & seed catalogues! I probably "read" them more than the magazines. I particularly enjoy Thompson & Morgan, White Flower Farm, Klehm Gardens, & John Scheepers.

For the work I do (for a living), I have an office with a waiting room. Of all the magazines in the waiting room, I have discovered that the plant & seed catalogs are a favorite with many people!

And now.....I am forced to eat my words. A well-meaning relative sends me a subscription to OG. I put them in the bathroom to flip thru before I trash them. This month so far I have found 3 USEFUL articles and I'm not done flipping. Compost plants and 2 about garden pests, beetles and some giant snail in Fla. I will prolly read the whole mag now. Must be new editors or something. Real content! Amazing.

Birds and Blooms is my favorite.

They had articles on the "Giant Snails" in Miami in one of the papers recently. I hope they don't migrate any further north. Wonder how long it takes a snail to crawl 70 - 80 miles. :-D We already have too many exotics here in Fl that have been brought in from other countries.
