Al, a new member, is planting a garden at his church and asked about plants that appear in the Bible. There are hundreds! Since he's in Pennsylvania, these may work in his garden. Please chime in if you have more suggestions!
Crocus, lilys, fennel, chamomile, mint, sage, rue, nigella (love-in-a-mist), Rose of Sharon.
All are perennial except some fennel and nigella. The nigella self-seeds so readily that it might as well be perennial.

Hyssop is mentioned several times in the old testament as a cleansing herb because of it's detergent properties.

MG... I've been away, Thanks for the plants posted . I'll look into the info you and all have referenced. There's a site (Plants In The Bible 2012). There are two books I think I'll start with..... Bible Plants for American Gardens & Healing Plants of the Bible. My first buy will be two Hardy Outdoor Figs for Z-6to10 Looks good for central Pa. I wonder if there's a cold weather Olive? Think I'll Start with the bigger stuff... anyone have a Gofer Wood Tree?

Al, we'd love to see a photo of the garden when you get it planted. If you don't post a picture, we may send a plague of locusts! :p
