First off, i have been a reader of this forum for a while and find all of you members extremely helpful. Thank you very much for that. Now, I'll get to the point. Long story short, my corn seedlings became extremely root bound. I've only just transplanted them. They were pale, yellow and under a foot tall. They're about 2 months old or so. My question is: Are they a lost cause? Will they be permanently stunted? Before transplanting them, i tried to loosen up the root ball and dipped the entire thing in a rooting hormone and water solution. Is there any hope of my corn recovering? Am I better off starting over?

Tampa I have never heard of being able to buy corn already started. So I am not much help to you. How long have you had them planted? From what you did for them they should do well I would think. We always start are corn from seed. Look forward to see what others have to say. Very interesting.

I have bought corn already about 6 inches tall.I took them from the crate and pulled out the roots away from the crate.I planted them app.2 inches deep.
I Plant corn seed about 6 inches deep as they seem to stand better in wind .
Its best to just plant corn seed in the dirt they will grow in.My sprouted corn I have bought doesn't do very well.

I hope Sjored comes in he can help you so much more than me.

I usually start seeds in little pots i make out of water bottles. By the time they were almost a foot tall, i wasn't done with my garden yet. They were cramped in there for a couple of months. I guess what im wondering is, should I cross my fingers? or should i start over?

I say BOTH, plant it and see what you get out of it and plant a new batch at the same time.

Ditto, over here I have never heard of corn seedlings. I understood from my dad corn is very sensitive at the roots. Once you pull it out, they don't recover well.
We only sow seeds out in the field.
