I was out yesterday trying to get as many of those free plants in the ground as I could. I forgot & left the shovel in bed of pickup (I have to park it on the street) & doggoneit, it wasn't there this a.m.! It was an expensive shovel, too. So me being me, I put an ad on craigslist that i'd trade a portion of all the plant goodies I got, for a good-quality, used shovel. I just posted it & hoping to find a taker. Hate to spend another $40.00 or so, as I only bought this one last fall. Some people!!!

Aaawwww, that sucks! Hope you find a replacement soon.

We have a small blue and white cooler in the back of our truck that has been there for close to two years and never been bothered. We sometimes fill it with water and ice for our junque store shopping trips, it has gone on vacation to several spots in the state, we leave it there everywhere we go and no one wants it. We call it the invisible cooler. Of course now that I have mentioned it, the thing will probably disappear next time we go somewhere. ;)

Oh, that is the pits. I hate that people are so lazy that they take what is yours instead of working for their own! Splash the next one up with paint and make it "look" ugly. I bet no one will touch that one.

Post an ad in the local newspaper or free paper saying that you had just used that shovel to dig up some very toxic plants. Anyone handling the shovel will need the antidote, which you have, so they should come get it, and bring the shovel with them!

Check pawn shops, junk stores in your area. Rarely do people steal an item to work with. They will take them to sell however,, even if its only 20 bucks.

I like the toxic plants idea. :D Wish I'd thought of something like that when somebody stole my fork from the front garden!!! I only went to the loo and found it gone within five minutes. Never did get it back. :(

Don't hesitate to file a theft report with the police or sheriff's office, too. You never know, they may have picked it up somewhere if the thief ditched it after stealing it and will return it to you.

Marlingardener, I'm pretty sure you would make a great criminal mastermind.

Wow...I can't believe someone stole your shovel! Have you looked in the ditches or brush around where you parked the truck- Maybe someone 'hid' it from you?

They stole your shovel. Have one better!!! They stole all four tires off my 2007 Chrysler 300 in the parking lot early one morning and left it on 2 blocks when i moved where i am 4 years ago....The nerve that someone would actually take it from the back of your truck...it's the pits that you have to park on the street. No one is off limits in this day and age. I do like all the comments especially the toxic matter...LOL!!
